Elegies

Folio. Approximately 5 3/4″ × 11 1/4″ (14.6 × 28.6 cm). Two broadside poems housed in a letterpress printed sleeve and folding folio. Designed, printed, and assembled by Jim Camp. Text composed using a combination of digital typography and handset type drawn from the synaesthesia press collection. Published by the synaesthesia press.
Edition of 200 copies. The first ten copies were designated for patrons of the press. All copies were signed by Barry Gifford.
The publication contains two poems: “On Viewing the Manuscript Scroll of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road in the Tosca Bar, San Francisco” and “Small Elegy for Corso.” Issued together in a custom folding presentation, the work serves as both a tribute to the Beat Generation and a meditation on literary memory, friendship, and loss.
Unlike the earlier chapbooks and folios issued by the press, Elegies was conceived as a hybrid production, combining digitally composed text printed from photopolymer plates with elements set by hand.
