Description

By 1930, Chrysler had firmly established Plymouth as its answer to Ford and Chevrolet, offering advanced engineering and upscale styling at an affordable price. This beautifully designed brochure reflects the optimism of early automotive advertising, emphasizing Plymouth’s all-steel construction, hydraulic brakes, comfort, and value at a time when the automobile industry was entering one of the most challenging decades in American history. The artwork captures the streamlined optimism of the period while showcasing the complete Plymouth lineup in vivid color.

The centerpiece is the dramatic full-color fold-out illustrating the Plymouth Sedan, Coupe, Roadster with Rumble Seat, Coupe with Rumble Seat, and Convertible Coupe with Rumble Seat, accompanied by detailed illustrations of the dashboard, steering wheel, hardware, and engineering features. Equally appealing is the surviving dealer provenance: a period dealership stamp from Chicago with a handwritten December 16, 1930 date, placing this brochure squarely in the era it was intended to promote. Pieces like this appeal not only to Plymouth and Chrysler collectors but also to enthusiasts of early automotive advertising and Art Deco commercial illustration.

Long before glossy automobile catalogs became commonplace, brochures like this were designed to persuade buyers that the future was waiting just outside the showroom door.
