Description

Published by Pearl Jam’s own Ten Club in 2006, 5×1 documents the band from the inside — not as myth, but as working musicians. Photographer Lance Mercer was there early, camera in hand, long before arena mythology calcified around them. These photographs feel immediate and unvarnished: stage dives, cramped clubs, tour buses, backstage quiet, sweat and light and motion.

What sets this book apart from standard band photo books is proximity. Mercer wasn’t parachuting in for a press cycle — he was embedded. The result is intimate and kinetic, capturing Pearl Jam at the height of their cultural force while still retaining the DIY pulse of the early ’90s scene. A must for Pearl Jam collectors, Ten Club devotees, and serious rock photography fans.
