Every January, Black Sparrow Press mailed a small New Year’s greeting to friends of the press—a tradition that became one of the publisher’s most beloved annual rituals. More than simple holiday cards, these attractive pamphlets often debuted an original Charles Bukowski poem months before it would appear elsewhere, wrapped in imaginative designs that reflected Black Sparrow’s unmistakable aesthetic.
