Description
One of the pleasures of the Stantoons series is watching Eric Stanton mix recurring characters with entirely new situations from issue to issue. Stantoons 8 features Captive Casanova, Poor Letty, and another appearance by the popular Blunder Broad. The result is a collection that moves easily between humor, fantasy, adventure, and the exaggerated female-power scenarios that made Stanton one of the most recognizable underground illustrators of the twentieth century.
Unlike the slicker reprints that would follow in later decades, these self-published Stantoons retain the feel of Stanton’s original underground audience. Produced in relatively small numbers and sold through specialty channels, they were often read hard and saved poorly. Copies that remain clean, complete, and well-preserved have become increasingly difficult to locate. For collectors interested in the evolution of Stanton’s independent publishing efforts, this is a particularly appealing entry in the series.
A desirable addition to any Eric Stanton collection.
