Description
The signed limited issue of Cherkovski’s biography of Bukowski, issued by Black Sparrow Press in association with Random House in a run of 200 copies signed by both author and subject. This copy comes with a group of laid-in ephemera—publisher material from Black Sparrow Press, a City Lights event announcement, and a period bookmark. I’m sure you know Neeli knew Buk personally, so Hank reads less like distant biography and more like proximity—written by someone who was absolutely there as Bukowski’s reputation moved from underground poet to established writer. Black Sparrow’s production here is characteristic: clean typography, restrained design, and a focus on the object as much as the text.
What elevates this copy is the combination—signed limited BSP edition (as opposed to the far more common Random House edition) and the associated promo material.
A signed Bukowski/Black Sparrow cornerstone with uncommon ephemera—complete, sharp, and highly collectible.
