Description
A fully realized, entirely handmade comic book universe created in April 1976 by a young, unknown artist operating under the banner “Bravo Comics Group.” Featuring the unstoppable Heroic Harry and his partner Blasting Boy, the narrative moves from outer space missions to Revolutionary War time-warps, complete with dialogue, sound effects, and dramatic splash-style panels. There are multiple covers present, including “The Unbearable Heroic Harry” and a companion “Galactic Comics Club” issue featuring Diamond Back.
What elevates this beyond nostalgia is the sincerity and ambition. The creator establishes logos, issue numbers, publication dates, villain arcs (“The End of Balon Man!”), and even promotional copy. The raw pencil line, earnest storytelling, and myth-making impulse place this squarely in the territory collectors now recognize as Outsider Art or vernacular comic production — private imagination rendered with total conviction. For collectors of self-taught art, DIY zines, juvenile comic culture, or singular American ephemera, this is the real thing: not reproduction, not parody, but original adolescent myth-making from the Bicentennial year.
A one-of-one handmade comic archive from 1976 — impossible to duplicate, impossible to replicate and a terrific addition to your Outsider Art Collection.
